Residents of RT 05 Harapan Maju Village Join Electrical Training to Promote Independence in the New Settlement

Malinau, 14 June 2025 – Seven residents from the new settlement of the Mentarang Induk Hydropower Project—RT 05 Harapan Maju Village, Malinau Regency—participated in a training program on the operation and maintenance of public electricity facilities. The program was organized by PT Kayan Hydropower Nusantara (KHN) in collaboration with SMKN 2 Malinau and CV Bestgrowth.

Led by technical experts from CV Bestgrowth, the training consisted of six sessions combining both theory and hands-on practice.

The training focuses on equipping members of a team responsible for managing and maintaining key infrastructure in RT 05 Harapan Maju settlement with the skills to operate essential facilities such as the communal generator, clean water treatment system, and wastewater treatment system. These facilities were not available in the residents’ previous settlement. The program also aims to help residents become self-reliant while raising awareness about the importance of safety.

One of the participants, Amboy Jeksen (25), shared that the training has been highly beneficial. “It’s helped me better understand how to manage the generator and use electricity safely at home,” he said.

Prior to the training, residents had already received two rounds of socialisation. The first one was held in 2023 from the contractor who built the infrastructure, and the second socialisation was provided by KHN’s technical team in 2024, which focused on the importance of regular maintenance.
