KHN Sustainability Workshop, Ensuring Sustainable and Responsible Hydropower Practices for MIHEP

PT Kayan Hydropower Nusantara (KHN) hosted a Sustainability Workshop in Jakarta on 1-2 February 2024. The workshop was held as an effort to ensure that the Mentarang Induk Hydroelectric Project (MIHEP) continues to be developed in a sustainable and responsible manner.
The workshop was attended by KHN President Director Antony Lesmana and KHN Director Y.B. Andhi Marjono, and joined by 40 KHN employees from Jakarta, Tarakan, and Sarawak.
The two-day event aimed to provide an introduction to, and practical examples of, sustainable practices specifically tailored to the MIHEP case.
On the first day, an introduction to sustainability and best practices of hydropower projects were provided to the participants, while group discussions on emerging sustainability issues and Public Information Disclosure requirements were discussed on the second day of the event.
In his opening remarks, Antony Lesmana said that KHN must understand and incorporate its commitment to sustainability, emphasizing the fact that sustainability is not an end result, but an ongoing process.
He also explained about the Hydropower Sustainability Standard (HSS), which is an international sustainable hydropower standard initiated by the International Hydropower Association (IHA) and shared KHN's ambition to meet the standard.
Several sessions at the workshop were presented by Adaro Minerals Indonesia Director Wito Krisnahadi, KHN ESG Advisor Budi Wiandjono, and Sarawak Energy General Manager Sustainability Mohamad Irwan bin Aman.
